50 Cent: Piracy Is A Part Of The Marketing

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Say what you will about Fiddy, but I think his business savvy is off the hook: Vitamin Water, books, shoes, clothing, non-profits, acting…. and I haven’t even mentioned his musical career!

50 continues to amaze me, and not because of his rhymes, but because he approached these ventures like he would have dealing drugs; by power moves and being in control. I admire that about him and look forward to see what else he has up his sleeves.

When asked about music piracy, he responded, “the people who didn’t purchase the material, they end up at the concert.,” meaning that people will still enjoy the music, and end up going to his show. He notes that you can’t stop piracy either way, so why try to fight it?

50, this is my request to you: drop Yayo and Banks; you’ve done everything you can for them, they ain’t gonna pop anymore than they already have. Start a record label (not just hip hop), or revamp one of the majors as a VP or Prez, and bring that street hustle to the labels with innovative ideas and a realistic point of view. I would support that.
